Safeguarding Team and Information

Safeguarding Statement

Oughtrington Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibity and a whole school approach is taken to this.

This means that we have a Safeguarding Policy and procedures in place, which we refer to in our prospectus and staff handbook. Parents and carers are welcome to read the policy on request or on our website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare. School is linked with the police as part of Operation Encompass.

Our Designated Leader for Safeguarding is:

The Headteacher (Miss Marsland)

Our Deputy Safeguarding Leaders are:

We also have a Designated Governor for Safeguarding

All staff undertake safeguarding training on appointment and this is renewed every year. Staff also receive training to make sure they are aware of the changes to Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Designated Senior Leaders are required to repeat training annually and update on specific aspects of safeguarding on a regular basis.
