Year 5 2024 - 2025

In Autumn Term in Year 5 we ask, "Was the Anglo Saxon period REALLY the Dark Ages?" We delve into the settlements, the treasure hoards, the legends and myths. This is linked to our Geography unit mapping the counties of the UK.

During the Spring Term, we continue to study the Anglo Saxons but this time we introduce the Vikings and the struggle for the Kingdom of Britain. We discover the impact of the Viking invasion on Britain and explore maps linked to Anglo Saxon and Viking place names

In Summer Term, our Geography unit takes us to North America as we compare it to a contrasting UK locality. We also study the Ancient Mayan Civilisation. Please see the links below for full curriculum coverage.
