Music Development Plan

At Oughtrington Primary School, we provide an extensive, diverse, and progressive music curriculum for all children within school. This is delivered by music specialists teaching whole class instrumental lessons and by class teachers teaching ‘high quality’ lessons using the Model Music Curriculum Charanga scheme. This includes an ‘all year round’ programme of performance in and out of school. At Oughtrington, children listen to a broad and vast musical landscape and learn through practical music making. As aspiring musicians, our children are ‘active learners and listeners.’ Music also supports their overall wellbeing and builds their confidence, while creating a whole school community of music making.
